OUGD404- End of Module Self-Evaluation

1.  What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

I have developed my understanding of grids and how they can be used to create interesting layouts. For example, the use of hierarchy to guide the viewers eye around the page in a specific way. I have a better understanding of how to use colour in my designs, however there is a lot of room for improvement as I found colour theory a challenge.

2. What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

The most beneficial skill I have developed is my ability to approach my work in a systematic way to produce a variety of designs. This has helped me to not over think things when I’m in the initial design development process.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

The main strength I can identify is the better understanding of grids I have and how to use them to layout my work in an interesting way.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?

My knowledge of colour theory is still a little unclear so I will need to keep researching into it to gain a much better understanding so I can be aware of things to avoid, when working with colour.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?

I will further research into the disciplines to gain a better understanding.

Create a larger quantity of work to fully explore the potential design outcomes.

Take more thorough notes so I can better document the information I learnt in the lessons. This will allow me to better refer back if I need to refresh my memory on something.

I will experiment with more grids to see further layout potentials. This will help me to clearly display information in an interesting way and utilise the space.

I will try to contribute more within the lessons by answering and asking more questions to gain as much knowledge as I can.
